This space is an Aesop scenography unfolding in seven acts—and a soft-spoken attempt to redefine the boundaries of retail design. Presented as a series of vignettes, it evokes a domestic setting in which traditional Malaysian interiors and habits are reinterpreted. Packaging becomes building material, and formulations are contextualized. 

The location in the Mid Valley Southkey courtyard, beneath a skylight, inspired our in-house design team to create an architecture that could be observed from the balconies of each floor of the mall. A louvered ceiling, depending on the viewpoint, either reveals or conceals the interior, giving fleeting glimpses of the atmosphere and furniture within. Next to the entrance, a tree conjures images of ancient buildings overgrown with vegetation. Oriented outward, the structure adopts the spatial organization of traditional houses, with a central space—the store proper—that distributes access to adjacent rooms, each devoted to specific product ranges.  

The Bathroom, dedicated to Body, Hair and Personal
Care, is a choice destination for the bathing connoisseur. The furniture—such as a wooden stool sourced from a flea market—reflects the seated washing tradition of Malaysian bathhouses. An intriguing scent emanates from the very walls: their soft bricks are actually Aesop bar soaps. 

The Living Room reveals the fictional residents’ fondness for craft through considered furniture. In addition to a secondhand floor lamp, two vintage noble-wood chairs are positioned against a 1950s shelving unit handcrafted from solid aged teak, exuding mid-century elegance. Visitors are invited to settle in and explore our Home range—and the pages of the Aesop Book, here transformed into wallpaper. 

The Cabinet of Curiosities takes the form of a collector’s study devoted to Malaysian and Asian art. A century-old timbered basket presides over an assembly of cherished objects and boxes. Hanging on a wall covered with Rōzu Eau de Parfum packaging, framed traditional paintings give depth to the space, while old furniture arranged throughout the room shelters imaginary treasures. In this intimate setting, our full range of unconventional fragrances awaits hands-on, nose-first exploration. 

In the shade of a genuine Ficus triangularis, The Garden is a verdant space that reveals the imagined occupants’ passion for botany. Outdoor furniture invites relaxation, and the walls are made from cardboard boxes of Geranium Leaf Duo—whose deep green sets the tone of the room. 

The Bedroom offers replenishment for both skin and psyche. Against folding screens reminiscent of traditional shutters, a daybed and a stack of vintage books call for a restful reading session by the glow of a secondhand lamp. The wallpaper, made from labels of Lucent Facial Concentrate and Lucent Facial Refiner, underscores the rest that skin, like the mind, requires. 

The Kitchen recalls early-twentieth-century interiors through a wooden grid installed on the ceiling, once used to suspend utensils and clear the room after meals. As decoration, a simple wooden board rests on stones, as was customary in the region. Here, Parsley Seed formulations are displayed like so many culinary condiments. 

The central room will seem familiar to Aesop enthusiasts. It functions as a store: a large central counter, offering ample storage and conducive to personal consultations, houses a timbered Fragrance Library where the
exploration of our Eaux de Parfum continues.
