Founded on a belief in the transformative power of storytelling, the Aesop Women’s Library returns to Malaysia in 2026 after a brief hiatus. The ephemeral Library offers complimentary books by female authors and allies—no purchase required.
This year’s Library focuses on the notion of the human body as a bridge between our private interiority and what is shared with the wider world, uncovering diverse female perspectives and visceral experiences through language.
As in years past, we have partnered with local independent bookshops to source titles from a diverse range of female authors.

Chuah Guat Eng is a pioneering Malaysian writer who transforms collective silences into an archive for displaced identities. Her publications include novels such as Echoes of Silence (1994) and Days of Change (2010), and short fiction like Tales from the Baram River (2001), The Old House (2008) and Dream Stuff (2014)—some of which have been translated into multiple languages, including Malay, Italian, Slovenian, and Mandarin. She has a PhD from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and has taught creative writing and literature at several universities locally.
Born in Johor Bahru, Fang Keng is a Chinese-language writer whose work moves across novels, short stories, essays and children’s literature. With numerous books to her name, she has earned recognition from literary awards in Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. A former journalist and long-time creative-writing instructor, she writes with a keen eye for memory, family and social realities, while bringing warmth, playfulness and emotional brightness to her works for young readers.
Ainul Farihah is a prolific Malaysian author and criminal litigation lawyer whose work spans across novels, short fiction, telemovie scripts, television drama series, and lyric writing. Since her debut at age 16 with the novel Vehaen (2013), she has published numerous works—including her bestselling novel Yang Paling Patah Antara Kita (2022), which has reached 12 printings and sold over 80,000 copies. Holding an LL.B (Hons) from UiTM Shah Alam and having trained under prominent legal counsel, she seamlessly balances her practice as a criminal defense lawyer with an active literary career, contributing heartfelt stories, adaptations, and lyrics that resonate deeply with contemporary readers.
